Automobile brake pads play a crucial role in driving safety. In case of wear to a certain extent, they need to be replaced in time. In addition to expiration of normal service life, brake pads also need to be timely replaced in the following situations!
1. Sound inspection
If it is accompanied by the “hissing” sound of “iron friction” when you press the brake lightly, it is recommended to replace the brake pads immediately.
Because the limit marks on both sides of brake pads have directly rubbed brake discs, it is proved that brake pads have exceeded the limit.
In this case, the brake discs shall be inspected while the brake pads are replaced.
In case of such sound, the brake discs are often damaged.
At this time, even if the brake pads are replaced with new ones, the sound cannot be eliminated, and the brake discs need to be replaced in severe cases.
The thickness of a new brake pad (excluding steel backing plate of the brake pad) is generally around 10 mm.
When the thickness of the brake pad is only about 1/3 of the original thickness (about 3 mm) by visual inspection, the vehicle owner shall increase the frequency of self-inspection and be ready to make replacement at any time.
Usually, when the thickness is less than about 1 mm, it needs to be replaced immediately. There is a raised mark on both sides of each brake pad.
The thickness of the mark is about 2-3 mm, which is also the limit of the thinnest brake disc replacement.
If the thickness of the brake pad has already been parallel to the mark, it must be replaced immediately.
3. Strength feeling
When the brake pads become thinner, the braking effect will be affected. At this time, it is necessary to press the brake pedal deeper to achieve the braking effect that can be achieved by lightly depressing the brake pedal, and the braking effect in the first half is obviously weakened.
I feel that my brake is getting soft and I cannot stop it a bit. At this time, it is necessary to check whether the brake pads need to be replaced.
In addition, when someone is driving, the frequency of braking has reached a very high level. As a result, naturally, the brake pads have to be changed once every 20,000-30,000 km.
